Phantoms Quartet Qualifies for Nationals
Delaware and Chester Counties, PA—Congratulations to four Delaware County Community College athletes for delivering NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Qualification performances in their first meet of the season, the Purple and Gold Open at West Chester University.
Daishon Billops, Fatumata Kaba, (Tre) Fred McCray, and Daniel McLaughlin have qualified to compete in the 2025 NJCAA D-III National Championships to be held at Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica, NY, May 8-10.
DCCC's quick qualifiers included a trio of first-year athletes. Kaba earned a spot in the women's long jump with a mark of 4.80m, which places her atop the current NJCAA DIII rankings. Men's hurdlers Billops (17.74, currently fifth in the nation) and McLaughlin (17.51, fourth nationally) both qualified in the 110m HH. McLaughlin also posted a qualifying time (1:00.50) in the 400m IH for third on the national leaderboard.
Sophomore McCray will be returning to represent the Phantoms in championship competition for the second time in the men's 100m, qualifying this season with an 11.42 time (fifth in the nation). McCray ran the 100m in 11.06 at Nationals in 2023 for 12th place overall.
