Delaware and Chester Counties, PA - 

Signature Moment: The Delaware County Community College track & field team put the finishing touches on a standout season at the 2024 National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Mohawk Valley Community College on May 9-11. The Phantoms kicked off competition with a bang on Thursday in the 4x100 meter relay trials. Dennis Omane-Nketia, Thiernold 'Joseph' Faye, Jadon Thomas, and Aidan Heppard collectively owned the moment as the quartet ran to a new school-record time of 45.82 seconds and placed 12th overall.

Season Notes: Accompanying DCCC head coach Cara Fordenbacher at the DIII national meet were Ramadan Amm, Thiernold 'Joseph' Faye, Aidan Heppard, Dennis Omane-Nketia, Jadon Thomas, and Bintu Sheriff …  Sheriff competed in the women's 100m, while Heppard ran in the men's 100m. Omane-Nketia, Faye, Thomas, and Heppard represented the Phantoms in the 4x100m relay .. The men's program has sent representatives to the national meet in each of its first two seasons in program history … The quartet of Omane-Nketia, Faye, Thomas, and Heppard ran to a new school record of 45.82 seconds in the 4x100 at the national meet on May 9 … Faye picked up where he left off last season as Faye broke his previous school record in the 800m with a time of 2:30.64 on March 16 … William MacIntosh set a new school record of 22.69 meters (74 feet, 5 inches) in the javelin on April 13 …  A special shoutout to sophomores Ramadan, Joseph and MacIntosh who will go down in the history books as the inaugural group who started the men's track and field program at DCCC.

Looking Ahead: Coach Cara Fordenbacher and Coach Stephen Battle are so pleased with the improvement that the team showed this year, and are already looking ahead to the continued growth expected next year! Coach Fordenbacher is hoping to get the women's cross country program off the ground in August, and is already planning for the men's and women's track season. 

"We have some solid recruits expected to come in to bring more depth to our sprints and throws event groups, as well as building our women's programs," Fordenbacher said. "We can't wait! If you are interested in joining the cross country or track teams next year, please reach out! Go Phantoms!"
