Phantoms Season Comes to a Close Against Patrick Henry College

Delaware and Chester Counties, PA - The Delaware County Community College baseball team said goodbye to its sophomores as it closed out the season against visiting Patrick Henry College Saturday.

Before the games, DCCC recognized Jake Miller and Cidrick Navas, the only two players on the current roster to have played two seasons for the Phantoms. 

DCCC gave the home crowd a lot to cheer about despite falling in both games of the doubleheader against the Sentinels.

The Phantoms  (1-27) did not go away in Game 2 on the day, as it tied the game 11-11 in the bottom of the seventh to extend the game before Patrick Henry scored four runs in the eighth to claim the 15-11 victory.

Michael Jenkins went 3-for-4 in the contest with three RBIs and one run scored. Playing his final game as a Phantom, Navas also had a big day at the plate with two hits, including a double, and three RBIs. Eric Engesser, Nathan Carroll, and Hunter Whitten also had hits in the contest. Carroll and Izaah Perocier accounted for two RBIs apiece.

Navas struck out six Sentinels in the loss.

The first game of the day saw DCCC's Michael Cassan have a hot bat as he went 3-for-3 in a 6-0 setback.

Losing pitcher Whitten struck out four and accounted for the Phantoms' only other hit in the game.

The DCCC program is grateful to Miller and Navas for their contributions to laying the foundation for a Phantoms' program that looks to become a perennial contender at the  conference and regional level in the years to come.

Miller is completing his degree in computer science and looking to begin his career as an IT professional, while Navas hopes to continue his education and baseball career at a four-year institution.

DCCC now looks to the future, with memories of a season filled with determination, grit, and perseverance that could never be fully captured by the season's win-loss record.
