Carney's Point, NJ — The Delaware County Community College baseball team had a hard time getting the bats to warm up against host Salem Community College as the Phantoms fell,11-1, to the Mighty Oaks Tuesday afternoon.
Jonathan Martinez and Anthony Georgette broke through with back-to-back bunt singles to start the fourth. Martinez eventually came around to score the lone run for DCCC (0-3) on a sacrifice fly by Bryant Demota-Diaz.
Pitching five-plus innings on the day, Eric Blackwell took the loss on the mound for the Phantoms.
Sean Broadhurst struck out seven in the win for Salem (14-17).
DCCC returns to action on Sunday when it takes the short trip to Williamson Trade for a doubleheader beginning at 1:15 p.m.
