Phantoms Drop Twin Bill to Mustangs

Blue Bell, PA — It wasn't the way the Delaware County Community College baseball team wanted opening day to go as the Phantoms dropped a pair of games to host Montgomery County Community College Saturday afternoon. DCCC fell, 21-2, in Game One before losing 16-0 in the nightcap.

The Phantoms (0-2) found offense hard to come by against the Mustangs (3-2) all afternoon.

The opener saw DCCC tally two runs on six hits. Both runs came in the sixth inning as the Phantoms took advantage of a Bryant Demota-Diaz leadoff double. Andrew Rohrbach followed with a walk to put two on with no outs and Wayne Stewart delivered two batters later with a single to load the bases. Damian Rivera followed Stewart's single with a single of his own to knock home the first run of the day for DCCC. Anthony Georgette then brought Rohrbach home with a sacrifice fly to left field.

DCCC left 10 on base in Game 1.

Stewart (0-1) suffered the loss on the mound for the Phantoms.

The second game of the day saw the DCCC bats quieted by Montgomery's pitchers. Jonathan Martinez managed the lone hit of the day for the visitors with a single in the first inning.

Christian Johnson (0-1) took the loss on the mound in Game Two.

DCCC returns to action on Tuesday, April 5th, when it travels to Salem Community College for a contest beginning at 3:30 p.m.
